KasNet accelerates its growth with a strategic migration to AWS

KasNet, a financial services company in Peru, worked with Caleidos to migrate its core financial systems and modules related to regulated workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This migration improved operational agility, strengthened platform resilience and advanced operational automation, while establishing a scalable cloud foundation for the future evolution of the business. KasNet operates one of the most extensive correspondent agent networks in the country, with nationwide presence and a key role in expanding access to essential financial services, actively contributing to financial inclusion in Peru.

The challenge

KasNet's sustained growth began to put significant pressure on its technology ecosystem. The organization needed a flexible and secure cloud foundation that would allow it to operate more efficiently, automate critical processes and respond faster to new business demands, while preserving the stability of highly sensitive workloads such as its core financial system and the modules subject to regulatory standards. Beyond transactional growth, KasNet faced technical complexity accumulated over the years. Part of the challenge was migrating critical platforms and ensuring their correct operation in a new environment, with service continuity as a non-negotiable requirement. Added to this was the need to guarantee stable and reliable connectivity both with partner financial institutions and with systems that remained on-premises, within a hybrid scenario with multiple layers of networking, security and legacy dependencies. If not addressed in a structured way, these limitations could restrict KasNet's ability to scale its multi-bank model, accelerate the onboarding of new digital services and move forward with its regional expansion plans.

The solution

To meet these challenges, Caleidos designed and executed a comprehensive AWS migration program, with an end-to-end approach that combined risk-oriented planning and progressive execution. The goal was to establish a robust, scalable and security-oriented cloud foundation that would allow KasNet to sustain its growth with greater operational control. The project included a detailed analysis of workloads and their dependencies, followed by a phased execution that prioritized critical systems and ensured operational continuity throughout the process. As part of the scope, core components of the financial system were migrated and the connectivity architecture was redesigned, ensuring stable, low-latency communications between AWS, the financial institutions KasNet works with and the systems that remained on-premises. To support regulated workloads, a security baseline aligned with industry best practices for identity, encryption and auditing was implemented. The target architecture prioritized resilience and operational visibility, improving platform reliability and reducing manual effort through higher levels of automation. AWS was selected for its ability to offer a secure, scalable and highly reliable platform, suited to organizations that need to manage variable demand and run critical workloads in regulated environments. On this foundation, Caleidos designed and delivered the AWS environment with solid networking and cloud platform foundations, security and compliance controls, and centralized monitoring and logging. To ensure long-term success, the project was complemented with support services before and after the migration, including operational readiness, cutover support, post-migration stabilization and the definition of a clear operating model for incident management, maintenance and continuous optimization.

Results

With its new foundation on AWS, KasNet strengthened the platform that supports essential financial services for people and businesses across Peru. The company consolidated a more resilient infrastructure, ready to sustain the growth of its agent network and the continuous operation of its critical systems. This cloud foundation allows KasNet to support business growth with greater operational predictability and lays the groundwork for future technology evolution initiatives and expansion into other markets in the region, replicating its model in a controlled way in regulated environments.
